One of the most frequently asked questions we get when talking about rings with our customers is how to figure out their loved one's ring size in order to keep the ring a surprise.
Of course the ring can be sized after the special occasion, but we can all agree that it’s best when things go perfectly right the first time!
Here are a couple of ways to help determine her ring size:
1. If she has a ring she doesn’t wear daily and won’t notice if it’s gone for a little while, simply bring it into our store and we can measure it. If you're purchasing an engagement ring, make sure it’s a ring that she wears on her ring finger. If purchasing a gift, make sure you know her preference as to which finger she will wear it on.
Although this is very simple and easy to do, many people overlook this as an option! Why make things more complicated than they need to be?
2. Take one of her rings (again, make sure it's for the correct finger!) and place it on a piece of paper. Then, trace around the outside and the inside of the ring – voila! Bring the paper into our store and we can measure it.
3. Take one of her rings and slide it onto your finger comfortably—don’t force it. Using a pen, carefully mark on your finger where the ring sits. If you’re coming into our store that day, perfect! We can measure the mark. If not, take a small piece of string, wrap it around that pen mark, and cut it to make a “string ring”. Bring it in when you visit the store, and we’ll take it from there.
4. Ask a friend or family member to do a little investigating. If the topic is brought up nonchalantly, she’ll have no idea you're planning a proposal or searching for a gift. Their friend can simply ask what size she wears out of curiosity, or to be more discreet, ask to try on one of her rings—this will help give a good estimate as long as the friend knows their own ring size.
